weekend recap (now with more baby!)

December 7, 2009

we spent the weekend in pittsburgh visiting jon's sister and her husband for our nephew jonah's baptism.  it was tons of dog and baby filled fun.  plus a friend of jon's let me borrow his fancy-fance camera for the weekend and oh god, how i love theeeeeee expensive camera.  ZOMG <3 <3  i want to lick it.  so i took about ten billion pictures and i never ever want to give it back, except this morning when i had to.

it is lots of fun having the two cousins together though.  it's amazing how they can be so similar because babies that same age all do the same things (eg leg kicking, flopping around, blowing bubbles) but at the same time be so very different.  different schedules (or lack thereof) and different personalities.  jonah seems more social to me.  he smiles and flirts and interacts.  jude is... gigantic.  and he likes to watch, watch everything.  he's very zen.  he's in his own world of learning about seeing stuff and he doesn't particularly care who is paying attention to him.  and he's really into squawking and yelling and making jude noises.

now that it has finally snowed you know what happened?  do you, internet?  do you know my troubles?  my shoe has a hole in it.  the shoes i wear every day to work.  and now, by virtue of this stupid hole, snow fills up my shoe when i walk.  and my flatiron broke over the weekend.  balls.

now, what you're really here for today:  pictures of babies and dogs.

me:  hey jon, i don't have a burp cloth.  can you toss me that one from over there on the newel post?

jon:  (blank stare)

me:  you know, the newel post?  right there?

jon:  ....

me:  that's what it is, right?  a newel post?

jon:  (now staring at me and dancing in place)

me:  no really, that's what it is, right? right?! come on!

jon:  (dancing)

me:  but... it is, right?  it's a newel post.  we learned about it... on the... remodeling show....  and the guy, he replaced the...  with the period...   i....

jon:  (still dancing silently)

me:  ...

jon:  yeah ok fine, that's what it is.

NaBloPoMo finish line

December 1, 2009

success, all!  we have survived nablopomo '09!  and how!

i've enjoyed writing to you more often and i hope to keep it up (but without the added pressure of posting on a saturday when i'd rather be watching movies and rolling around on the floor with the jude).  next up on tap here?  well of course the winter holidays are approaching at an alarming rate, we'll be in pittsburgh next weekend, and i'm getting a mirena right after, but also- *site redesign*!  i think it's almost done.  i keep trying to add all these ridiculous extra features and have to remind myself how completely unnecessary all that is.  after consulting with a few people i should have an up-and-running date for you in the next few days.  i'm psyched!

another november has passed.  my first full year (plus some) blogging here is over.

i'm going to celebrate by washing my hair and going to the grocery store.  i have a very exciting life.
