five day survivor gets me a lazer sword

on a wire

I have been wearing this shirt for four days.

I have been wearing this shirt for four days.

I have been wearing this shirt for four days, or rather, a combination of two shirts, one over the other. I take them off at night, wait 7 hours, and put them back on.

The traffic lights flash in sync, and then slightly out of sync, blink-blink blin-blink bli-blink b-blink. They struggle disjointedly against each other for dominance and then suddenly one breaks free and serenades the other, calling across the pavement, its mate replying in kind.

You then me.
You then me.
You then me, then you and me.

I'm frozen, transfixed knowing that if I wait long enough they'll work through the rambles back into sync. The hair stands up on the back of my neck thinking about the next time they'll beat in perfect unison and the breath catches in my throat but I can't wait anymore because I have places to go, in my four day old shirt.

I think a lot about traffic lights.

I wonder if they think about me.
